Ingredients:
For the Candied Bacon:
8 slices of thick-cut bacon
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
For the Burger Patties:
1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the Maple Cheddar Topping:
4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons maple syrup
Burger Assembly:
4 brioche buns, toasted
1/2 cup arugula or baby spinach
4 slices of tomato
Optional: mayonnaise or your favorite burger sauce
Directions:
Prepare the Candied Bacon:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. Lay the bacon slices on the rack. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over each slice and dust lightly with smoked paprika. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and caramelized. Set aside to cool.
Make the Burger Patties:
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Gently mix until combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape into patties slightly larger than the buns.
Cook the Patties:
Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.
Add the Maple Glaze:
Drizzle a small amount of maple syrup over each cheese-covered patty for a sweet, savory finish.
Assemble the Burgers:
Spread mayonnaise or burger sauce on the toasted brioche buns if desired. Layer the bottom bun with arugula or spinach, a slice of tomato, and the maple-glazed patty. Top with two slices of candied bacon. Finish with the top bun.
Serve:
Serve your Candied Bacon Maple Cheddar Burgers hot with your favorite side dishes like fries, coleslaw, or a fresh salad.
