1 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon water
1 ½ cups breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crunch)
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for a kick)

Directions:
Prepare the Coatings:
In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, salt, and pepper. In another shallow bowl, whisk the eggs and water together until smooth. In a third shallow bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, dried basil, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
Coat the Mozzarella Sticks:
Take each mozzarella stick and dip it into the flour mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Next, dip it into the egg mixture, followed by the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere the crumbs. Repeat this process for all the mozzarella sticks. For extra crunch, you can double coat them by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps.
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks:
Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pan to 350°F (175°C). If you’re using cooking spray, lightly coat a baking sheet and set your oven to 400°F (200°C) for baking. Fry the mozzarella sticks in small batches for 1-2 minutes until golden brown, or bake them in the oven for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through until crispy.
Serve:
Remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Serve with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce for an extra burst of flavor.
