What could possibly be better than a smash burger? Oh – A smash burger with bacon jam. Even better? A smash burger with bacon jam AND the bold kick of Cooper® Sharp Black Pepper. This flavor explosion will leave you craving more. Smash your tastebuds out of the park with this culinary masterpiece.
Ingredients
1 pound bacon, chopped*
1-1/2 cups chopped sweet onion
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup bourbon
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
4 hamburgers*
Salt and pepper to taste
8 slices Cooper® Sharp Black Pepper American cheese
Arugula
4 hamburger buns, buttered and toasted
Directions
In a skillet, cook and stir the onion in oil until caramelized. Add brown sugar, and bourbon. Simmer until sugar is dissolved, remove from heat, add bacon and balsamic. Transfer to a food processor. Cover and pulse until chopped.
Grill burgers and smash until desired doneness; season with salt and pepper. Top with Cooper® Sharp Black Pepper American cheese; cover and grill until melted.
Build your burgers: Place arugula on bun bottoms. Top with burger, bacon jam and bun top.
