Ingredients
1 large onion, cut into thick rings
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup cooked bacon, chopped
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 pound ground beef, cooked and crumbled
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
Oil for frying
Instructions
Preheat the oil in a deep fryer or large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
Dip each onion ring into the flour mixture, then into the buttermilk, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
Place the coated onion rings on a baking sheet and repeat with the remaining rings.
In a separate bowl, mix together the cooked bacon, cheddar cheese, and crumbled ground beef.
Stuff each onion ring with the bacon and cheese mixture.
Carefully drop the stuffed onion rings into the hot oil, frying in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Remove and drain on paper towels.
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup for dipping sauce.
Serve the loaded onion rings warm with the dipping sauce on the side.
Notes
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent soggy onion rings.
Feel free to customize the filling with other toppings like jalapeños or different cheeses.
For a healthier option, bake the onion rings at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes instead of frying.
