Bring the comfort of a classic diner to your kitchen with this homemade Patty Melt! Featuring a savory beef patty, sweet caramelized onions, and melted cheese tucked between crispy, golden bread, it’s a satisfying choice for lunch, dinner, or even a late-night bite.

Ingredients:

4 slices rye or sourdough bread
2 tbsp butter (softened)
4 beef patties (4 oz each)
2 cups caramelized onions
4 slices Swiss or cheddar cheese
2 tbsp mayo (optional)

Directions:

Caramelize Onions: Cook sliced onions over medium-low heat until golden and soft (10-15 min).
Cook Patties: Grill or fry patties to your desired doneness.
Assemble: Butter one side of each bread slice. On the unbuttered side, layer cheese, a patty, onions, and another slice of cheese. Top with bread.
Grill Sandwiches: Cook on a skillet until bread is golden and cheese melts, about 3-4 min per side.
Serve: Slice in half and dig in!
