FRIED CABBAGE WITH SHRIMP, SAUSAGE & BACON

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 lb smoked sausage (andouille or kielbasa), sliced
  • 1 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined
  • 1 medium head green cabbage, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Green onions (for garnish)

 

 

 

 

 


Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Cook the Bacon & Sausage

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove & set aside.
  2. In the same pan, brown the sliced sausage (about 3-4 minutes). Remove & set aside.

2. Sauté the Aromatics

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Add onion to the bacon grease and cook until soft (~3 minutes).
  2. Stir in garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

 

 

 

 

 

3. Cook the Cabbage

  1. Add chopped cabbageCajun seasoning, smoked paprika, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  2. Cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender-crisp.

 

 

 

 

 

4. Add Shrimp & Finish

  1. Push cabbage to the side and add shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side.
  2. Stir in cooked bacon, sausage, and butter. Mix well and heat through.
  3. Garnish with green onions and serve hot!
